The generic term 'fur' simply means an animal skin with fur fibres (or wool) attached. All animals have fur fibres of some kind. Generally these fibres comprise a top layer of guard hair and lower layer of underfur. The guard hairs cover the more fragile fibres that form the underfur or lower layer of fibres. The underfur is much finer and more than 10 times smaller in diameter than the guard hair. This means the underfur is more densely packed with a softer handle than the coarser guard hairs. Fur is becoming more popular each and every year. The so called stigma of wearing fur is disappearing as fashion designers are increasingly starting to incorporate fur into their design collections.

There is an undeniable status associated with the ownership of a fine fur. Wearing a fur tells the world that you have a keen sense of taste and fashion, an eye for uncommonly sound value and an appreciation of the finer things in life. As warm and comfortable as it is attractive, fur is also longer lasting and more adaptable to fashion changes than most other materials.

Fur is for everyone. Many people are discovering that fur is more affordable than they had thought. Also many furs are fashionably "classic." A major advantage is that, unlike many other materials, styling can be easily modified as fashion trends dictate - or just for a change. With our help, length, lapel, cut and even colour can be altered. Different furs can sometimes be worked together with dramatic effect. Why not cut that Persian or Swakara coat to three-quarter length, add dyed fox sleeves? Or have your old fur made into the liner for a stylish new raincoat?
